If you had to choose a theme song for your middle or high school years, what would it be, and why?

For my High School years, it would definitely have to be Uprising by Muse. Though I've never been a wild teenager, this just fits my experiences and the class of 2009 as a whole. Lots of good times. Even when teachers or other authority figures would try to hold any of us down, we rose together and made a difference.

Some books are inspirational. Others are intellectually stimulating or emotionally comforting. Then there are those juicy, mindless reads that are only good for a plane ride or the beach. Which books or authors fall under this last category?

Personally, I believe that when you find the right book you will be captured in the pages. When you've found an author who has a sheer passion and talent for writing, it won't matter where you are when you turn back the cover and unleash the world inside. All books should have something important lying under the text. Whether it involves romance or emotional moments, I believe the author is attempting to portray something that keeps their story, at least in their own views, from being mindless babbles. Take a look at something as simple as a childrens' book. Maybe a story like Corduroy. A bear who's lost his button... waiting to be taken home by any child willing to have him. It's cute and well written, even a little humorous, but underneath it, there is still a lesson waiting to be learned. So, my point is, I don't believe books are written as meaningless ways to pass the time. I think that each piece of literature we read, leaves us with something to take home.
